Takahisa Zeze and No Good Men

No Good Men: How the desire for intimacy can destroy a person

Could you believe that sometimes sex ISN'T the answer?! Well, that's the sad reality for our main lady Kumiko (Shoko Kudo).  She's pretty, sweet, a good worker.  As more of Kumiko's personal life is revealed we see that underneath all the innocence is a sexually insatiable woman who constantly needs to be in the arms of a man.  It doesn't matter who it is, strangers, friends, bosses, Kumiko has gotta have it.  It's not clear whether she is a full blown nymphomaniac, as she still takes much pleasure in knocking boots with Tokyo's finest.  Her desires slowly begin to erode all the good that she has to offer.  A random encounter with a stranger leaves Kumiko satisfied, not knowing that the man has recorded their session on tape.  Throughout the film she is terrorized by this tape, not only hearing it on her machine at home but also at work.

Kumiko's one glimmer of hope lays within a modest office cleaner (Yota Kawase) that happens upon the same laundromat that she is in.  The two have a drink (or ten) and spend an innocent night together, seeming to develop an actual connection.  He goes to great lengths in proving he cares, including going after the man that recorded Kumiko during a night a passion.  Motives and intentions tend to be not what they seem, however, and Kumiko must decide what lays ahead in her love life.

This film will be available for Pink Eiga TV subscribers for FREE for the first week of its release!!  After that is will be available to everyone to stream or download.

Actress Spotlight: Yumika Hayashi

Yumika Hayashi is a Pink film legend, and her legacy has only grown since her tragic and mysterious death a day before her 35th birthday.  The Tokyo Reporter comments "On the morning of June 28, 2005, the 34-year-old’s body was discovered by her mother and former boyfriend in the bed of her Tokyo apartment. An autopsy determined that she had died on June 26, the day before her birthday.

'Her body was found lying face-down and attired in a gown,' read a statement from her family to the press on July 3. 'Her face was that of a person who died peacefully.'
Police found no evidence of a struggle or foul play, and the autopsy did not determine a cause of death. The consequences of a session of binge-drinking the evening before was later determined to have been the source of her untimely passing.

Hayashi worked in the adult-entertainment business before making her porn debut in 1989. At that time, it was typical for actresses who separated themselves from the mainstream to perform their roles in ways that were considered less than authentic. Hayashi, however, chose to engage in “the real thing” — and her rise to the top was swift."

Yumika stars in many of our Pink films, including Silence of the Sushi Rolls, Sexy SWAT Team, and Sweet as a Peach.  Peach is the last film she was in before her untimely death.  In fact, she won a posthumous award for her work in the film, and received a standing ovation when her name came on screen.  She was admired and accepted as a key part of the Pink Film community, and her memory lives on through her work in cinema.

Sweet as a Peach: Japan's intense fruit culture

Pink Films draw their influence from many aspects of Japanese culture.  The Japanese obsession with fruit is a big part of every day life.  Fruit and other produce in Japan are very pricy, but are held to some of the highest standards in the world.  Non-perfect pieces are usually chucked into the garbage, with presentation being a key component.  Becky Smith elaborates on the importance played on fresh produce in this article from the Independent in 2014:

It's not uncommon to give gifts of fruit in Japan; unlike in the UK, fruit is considered a luxury product, and features heavily in Japan's gift-giving culture, along with other gourmet foodstuffs including frozen steaks, whisky and black tea.

Gifts are presented not only on special occasions, but as part of a reciprocal tradition to show appreciation, extend courtesy and build relationships. Rarely would anyone turn up at a friend's house empty-handed, and the exchange is an intrinsic part of business relationships. - Becky Smith, The Independent

Part of this fruit culture is getting the word out and selling to consumers, which is carried out in a particularly unique way.  Sweet as a Peach centers around this world, following three beautiful ladies vying for a position in the International Fruit Competition.  In this sort of pageant like tilt, Miki, Sakie and Akemi don light pink pant suits, complete with giant sashes that read "MISS PEACH."  We see them go out into public squares, passing fresh peaches out and praising their juiciness.  In the gif above, the promiscuous Sakie even comes up with her own peachy dance to attract more interest.  The competition isn't just between the peaches, however, there are other fruit girls that would do anything to sabotage each other.

Sweet as a Peach overall is one of the more funny and fluffy Pink film out there, but it does have its dramatic side.  These chicks are ruthless, and would do anything for the sake of victory, including exposing deep dark secrets that would be devastating if found out.  They sleep around, scheme, and take no prisoners.  The film is very funny and sweet, and an interesting look at a part of Japanese culture that not too many people are aware of....FRUIT!!

The Legendary Groper Train Series

Starting in 1982, the Pink film community was introduced to a film series called Molester's Train. Now referred to as "Groper Train," the low-brow comedic series now contains dozens of titles and has carved its own legacy in the world of Japanese exploitation.  The films varied in story, but many involved detective mysteries and recurring characters, such as Detective Kuroda (Yukijiro Hotaru) and his clever sidekick Hamako (Yuka Takemura).  What set these films apart from their contemporaries was not only the childish and silly humor and sexuality, but also their director. Academy Award Winner  for the 2008 film Departures, Yojiro Takita got his start in the film business by directing almost a dozen Groper films, eventually moving on to a more mainstream career.  The lasting effect he left on the Pink world is evident in Search for the Black PearlWedding Capriccio, and Sexy Timetrip Ninjas.

It was with films such as Molester Train: Underwear Inspection that the director Yojiro Takita proved himself as the true inheritor of Shinya Yamamoto's comic crown, while proving that the pink frilm of the '80s took just as an excessive approach to humour as it did to violence: there's potentially plenty to offend in these riotous offerings in which a string of women are habitually groped on public transport...As directed by Takita, the films were vaguely reminiscent of the lewd, slapstick antics of British comedian Benny Hill, but in terms of political incorrectness, they passed light years beyond.  Lewd panty shots, a prurient obsession with feminine hygiene and sniggering humour are of course all part and parcel of the series.
-From Jasper Sharp's "Behind the Pink Curtain"

Groper train films have enjoyed some nice festival runs, including being screened at Austin's Fantastic Fest in 2009.  In his article for Twitch titled "Fantastic Fest 09: Everything You Need to Know About Yôjirô Takita's GROPER TRAIN" Rodney Perkins talks about what production was like on these films.

Production values were inherently ticky-tacky, but Yôjirô Takita's films had a few unique touches. Specifically, the films feature a lot of guerrilla camera work in public spaces. For example, groping scenes were filmed on real trains. The groper always felt up actresses while train passengers either stared or tried to ignore what was going on. The gropees were all actresses (presumably), but the films made it look like as if the women were just hanging around and waiting to be groped. Takita knew how to work the tight confines of a train with a camera. Quasi-sneak photography was extensively used , including lots of tight close-ups of hands poking around front and rear extremities. These shots could have easily been done off train, but the cramped conditions and the shadows indicate that they were done right on the train. The overall effect is kind of subversive and unsettling (women getting groped on trains is an real issue in Japan).

Whether your a fan of a more dramatic or less slapsticky Pink film, it's no question the mark that Takita and the Groper Train series has left.  They may be a tad bit un-PC for todays times, but one must watch Pink films like these with a grain of salt, as they just exist to entertain an audience rather than incite more acts of perversion on the train.  If you'd like to learn more about the series, check out our documentaries on the subject here!

Expanding to different genres

In case you haven't noticed, we have been steadily increasing our library of unique and rare exploitation and erotic films.  We are proud to provide our classic Japanese Pink films, our tent poles that you have watched and loved for so long.  Yet, it was always our goal, as we expand into the video-on-demand world, to bring you a wider selection of erotica that you can't find anywhere else.

If you visit the pinkeiga.tv site you will find an array of Japanese gravure style films, and more "role-playing" type movies with known models and adult actresses.  Here is a summary of what gravure is all about:
"Since the 1970′s, the gravure idol industry has been a prominent part Japanese media culture. The word “gravure” comes from English and is used in Japanese as a way to describe a type of female model. It is derived from the term “Rotogravure” which is a printing method that was once commonly used for magazine and photos. Thus, the modern meaning can loosely be translated to “magazine model”, the medium in which most of the idols gain stardom.....Contrary to AV (Adult Video) idols, gravure idols do not pose for nude photography or engage in sexual acts. Although they often do not leave much to the imagination, gravure photography is not considered pornographic." - Axion Magazine, 2012

Pink Eiga are huge fans of pretty much anything Japan puts out there.  These films are much different than our usual ones, in that they don't have narratives or traditional structure.  The allure is to invite the viewer into an intimate setting with you and the model, and the rest is between you.

We have also added a lot of role-playing titles, "Busty Bookworm Babes" and "Hot 'n Sweaty Workout Hotties," among many others.  These films see models playfully playing with themselves in nerdy glasses, or stripping down to almost nude and busting out some squats.  Whatever you as the viewer are personally into, we want to provide films that reflect everyone's most inner desires.

Stay Pink!
